About Jen
Jen Abel is a co-founder of JJELLYFISH, where she works with B2B founders on the part of company building that cannot be delegated: selling the product yourself, to real buyers, before there is a sales team to hand it to.
Her position on the zero-to-one stage is blunt. There is no such thing as sales talent at zero to one, because the motion has to be led by the founder. Hiring a salesperson to discover the market on your behalf is the most common and most expensive early mistake she sees.
Before JJELLYFISH, Jen was one of the first hires on the enterprise sales team at General Assembly, then the first sales hire at The Muse, where she helped build the enterprise function from nothing to $2M. She writes and speaks regularly on founder-led sales, customer discovery, and how early teams reach their first million in ARR.
