CopilotKit, a platform for building production-grade AI copilots, established itself as a leader in the open-source community with over 10,000 GitHub stars and tens of thousands of monthly downloads.
The Challenge
In an effort to scale, they wanted to build out an enterprise offering to complement the open source solution. CopilotKit wanted to validate outbound sales as a channel to engage design partners for their enterprise offering.
The Solution
JJELLYFISH leveraged a multi-channel outbound strategy (Email & LinkedIn) to generate interest and refine CopilotKit’s ideal customer profile (ICP). Through this process, JJELLYFISH identified SaaS companies with AI leaders as the strongest fit for CopilotKit’s value proposition.
Through conversations with AI leaders, JJELLYFISH found that many organizations were at the early stages of developing AI copilots, struggling with challenges like system integration and data management. CopilotKit originally assumed customization and accelerating time to market would be key. Yet, JJELLYFISH validated that SaaS companies valued empowering teams to build copilots without requiring in-house AI experts and over 50% struggled to integrate systems. Additionally, JJELLYFISH uncovered that over 60% of respondents felt that customer expectations were the primary driver of urgency, with companies feeling significant pressure to deliver copilots quickly.
The Results
In less than three months, JJELLYFISH validated cold outbound as a viable channel, refined CopilotKit’s ICP, validated all assumptions about the value propositions, and uncovered critical insights to sharpen its positioning. It is recommended that CopilotKit continue to focus on SaaS companies building external copilots and emphasize its unfair advantage to streamline integration and accelerate deployment timelines. CopilotKit is positioned well to effectively monetize its open-source success and gain traction in the enterprise market.
Atai Barkai, Co-founder & CEOI’ve appreciated all the hard work these last 3 months. I definitely learned a lot and I think we have some good threads to keep going on. We’ve got a couple of key deals in the pipeline, new ideas for positioning and an outbound sales motion we can continue to action on. Very excited with the momentum!
